The HNS Way: Bowel care following Spinal Cord Injury made easy
The HNS 12 week bowel treatment plan assists clients to reduce their bowel care routine from 3 hrs down to just 30 mins a day!
Imagine the stress and inconvenience of a 3-hour bowel routine. When HNS first met Steph, a client living a C4 Spinal Cord Injury that was her daily reality.
To understand how best to help Steph, the HNS nursing team completed a thorough bowel-care assessment. This enabled a personalised care plan to be developed that included 12 weeks of tailored nursing support and the use of transanal irrigation technology.
With our consistent nursing support and approach, in just a short time, Steph’s bowel routine transformed significantly. Instead of spending hours on her daily bowel care, her bowels were efficiently empty within just 30 minutes! This not only gave Steph back 2.5 precious hours every day to spend with her family but also allowed her to focus more on her rehabilitation program.
Today, Steph enjoys a more balanced and fulfilling life thanks to the compassionate and effective care provided by the HNS nursing team.

The HNS Way: Prevent recurrent UTI’s through improved intermittent catheterisation
HNS intermittent catheter recommendation stops recurrent Urinary Tract Infections (UTI’s) for client with Spinal Cord Injury.
James’s life took a positive turn after he engaged the Holistic Nursing Solutions (HNS) nursing team to assist him with his continence management. Due to a C6 Spinal Cord Injury James required assistance to empty his bladder with intermittent catheters. Despite his proactive approach to intermittent catheterisation, he battled with frequent UTIs, leading to a cycle of never-ending antibiotic use.
To commence care, our nursing team conducted a comprehensive review of James’ catheterisation routine and the products he used. By implementing strategies tailored to James’s unique needs and goals and by utilising innovative catheterisation products, we optimised James’ catheterisation process to reduce his risk of recurrent UTIs.
Thanks to our collaborative efforts, James achieved a remarkable milestone—no more UTIs!
Today, James reports improved wellbeing and a more comfortable daily routine, free from the burden of UTIs, all thanks to the personalised and effective care provided by HNS.
