To understand how best to help Steph, the HNS nursing team completed a thorough bowel-care assessment. This enabled a personalised care plan to be developed that included 12 weeks of tailored nursing support and the use of transanal irrigation technology.
With our consistent nursing support and approach, in just a short time, Steph’s bowel routine transformed significantly. Instead of spending hours on her daily bowel care, her bowels were efficiently empty within just 30 minutes! Due to a C6 Spinal Cord Injury James required assistance to empty his bladder with intermittent catheters. Despite his proactive approach to intermittent catheterisation, he battled with frequent UTIs, leading to a cycle of never-ending antibiotic use.
To commence care, our nursing team conducted a comprehensive review of James’ catheterisation routine and the products he used. By implementing strategies tailored to James’s unique needs and goals and by utilising innovative catheterisation products, we optimised James’ catheterisation process to reduce his risk of recurrent UTIs.
