In the heart of the New England region of New South Wales, Holistic Nursing Solutions (HNS) and Holistic Care Solutions (HCS) are making a significant impact on the lives of residents across this diverse and expansive area. These organisations have extended their reach to ensure that even those in rural communities have access to high-quality, specialised care.
Michael's Journey: From Adversity to Independence
Michael, a 52-year-old sheep farmer living 40 kilometers outside of Armidale, found his life turned upside down after a severe spinal cord injury from a farming accident. Living far from the nearest town, he faced significant challenges in accessing the specialized care he needed.
HNS and HCS worked with Michael to create an individualized care plan that included home consultations, care support, telehealth services, and on-call assistance that accommodated his farming lifestyle.
The results were transformative. Within six months, Michael regained significant independence, managing his daily routines and even returning to limited farm duties.

Gold Standard Care in Rural Setting
What set Michael’s care apart was the gold standard approach of HNS and HCS.
As dually accredited providers with both the Australian Community Industry Alliance (ACIA) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), they ensured Michael received care that met the highest industry standards.

Comprehensive Care and Support
The HCS team provided Michael with daily assistance, helping him with personal care tasks and mobility around his property. They worked closely with HNS nurses to manage his complex bowel and continence needs, crucial for preventing secondary complications common in spinal cord injuries.
Michael has access to some of Australia’s leading clinicians through HNS and HCS’s internal evidence-based practice education portal. This meant that even on his remote farm, he received care based on the latest research and best practices in spinal cord injury management.

Innovative Telehealth Services
Michael particularly benefited from innovative telehealth services.
Using video conferencing facilities, he could regularly consult with specialists without the need for long, costly journeys.
This technology also allowed for real-time adjustments to his care plan, ensuring he always received the most up-to-date and relevant support.

Adapting Support for Independence
As Michael’s independence grew, the HCS team adapted their support, focusing on enabling him to return to modified farming duties. Michael and HNS/HCS worked with a team of interdisciplinary teams to modify farm equipment, allowing Michael to oversee operations from his wheelchair.
Today, Michael not only manages his health effectively but has also regained a sense of purpose in continuing his family’s farming legacy. His story is a testament to the power of holistic, high-quality care delivered with unwavering commitment to excellence, even in the most rural settings of New England.
